    Update for 6/24
Starting looking more at Tom's code for the simulator. Modifying this to show progress in the building block will be tough, since Tom's code has everything so interrelated. After messing around with the code a bit, I though of a problem - what do we do if two different configurations are in different building blocks? We could split the pane, but with many building blocks, that won't work to well.

    Update for 6/23/05
We met today to discuss where to go next - including showing building blocks in the simulator, as well as possibly "looking in" to a building block. I've going to start working on showing the building blocks in the simulator and figuring out Tom's code.

    Update for 6/22/05
Finished embedding the XML today for reading/writing. I've started doing some testing of the system to see what bugs there still are.

    Update for 6/21/05
We decided to go with the second option (keeping all the blocks in one file), after discussing the merits of both. Starting working on implementing it today.

    Entry for 6/20/05
Today, we mostly figured out how we wanted to implement building blocks into the current XML system. There were two options: a system linking the building blocks to files and another where all turing machines and building blocks are self-contained. We're leaning towards the second idea. We've made some initial progress so far.

    Update for June 17
More XML stuff - we started to make some progress today, however the code has been difficult to modify. We realized that Tom used the DOM model, but didn't used many of its features, so we are looking more into taking advantage of that model.

Today was mostly learning about XML and learning how Tom implemented it. There was a meeting at 2:30pm today as a progress report.

Today, I finished working on CVS and got the project set up. While I was working on CVS, Stephen added some of the basic components we will need for building blocks, so I tested that some as well.

    Journal Entry for 6/14/05
This day was a lot of CVS stuff, figuring out how to use it, etc. That wasn't the whole day, however, I spent more time playing around with GUI components and the code.

    Entry for 6/13/05
I found the Java book at home that I used in CPS 108. I ready some of the sections on graphical components in Java, and spent more time deciphering the GUI stuff (I this for a few hours on the weekend as well).

    Entry for 6/9/05-6/10/05
These two days were the JFLAP workshop.

    Entry for 6/8/05
Today was simply more about the source code, although this time, it was more about the GUI (view) part, although, I still did take time to learn more of the modelling.

    Entry for 6/7/05
This day, I finished reading what I felt I needed to in the Turing machine books. I focused on trying to figure out the Modelling parts of the Java source code, and relearning how to use Eclipse.

This journal is used mainly as a log for what I do each day at work.

This morning, I focussed mainly on reading more about turning machines/automata in the textbooks we were provided. I attended a meeting at 1, which discussed upcoming workshops and other miscellaneous topics. This afternoon, I started taking a look at the JFLAP source code.
